Generation hope.

How bad is it really the youth of today? "The Class" by Laurent Cantet is an honest, yet optimistic picture of teaching at a French school problem.

You can make a mad, as they sit and play with their mobile phones to exchange over the weekend and for the man at the teacher's just a mixture of disdain and indifference left. The man (François Bégaudeau) stands at the beginning because as a modern hero, because he wants the teacher of his seemingly Unbelehrbaren. He wants to take them seriously, while the young people seem to have a future with no prospect abgefunden have.

But it is not easy in this film about a school in the infamous 20th Arrondissement of Paris, because Laurent Cantets film "The Class" is not a Hollywood drama school, where a misguided teacher gutherzige ghetto children back into the lead track of virtue.

The film is based on a book by actor Bégaudeau, the former teacher was, and so he plays as well as all the pupils a screen version of himself

Everything should be as authentic as possible effect, almost a documentary, just enough dramaturgically compacted to the viewer emotionally only to pack and then intellectually.

The nice young teachers is not a hero, he just tries his best, but with its strategy of friendly authority proves he is not healing as the bringer of his proteges, many of which have French as a second language.

And the abgeklärten young people are not monsters or victims. You are renitent, sometimes even brutal, but they are also life-hungry, intelligent and companionable.

"The Class" is a generation, the sight of which the elderly first before gruselt that the future of society should be.

At the same time, the authentic, and yet his entire film grundoptimistische hope in these young people.

At the Cannes Film Festival, there were hochverdient for the Golden Palm.
