Between meditative and aggressive.

In "The Journey of the Chinese drummer", a gangster's son from Hong Kong with the help of a group of Zen drummers to itself - a thrilling film cooling between metropolitan and rural romanticism.
Hong Kong is a cold hell in this film. With blue, icy winds pictures the camera through the streets a Molochs, at each corner a whore, a dealer, a gunfight. There is no luck, it seems a director Kenneth Bi in any setting contrary to shout, no more than the illusion of it.

And, the arrogant young rock drummer Sid (talented: Jaycee Chang, the scion of Hong Kong cinema legend Jackie Chang), with all my heart abandoned. The son of a powerful gangster (Tony Leung Ka-fei), he enjoys little while family care, but a life in luxury.
For love and passion, the beautiful and opaque Carmen (Cheng Hei-yi), but only in secret, because it actually is with Stephen Ma (Kenneth Tsang) liiert, the Obermafioso of the city. The two soon caught and calls for compensation for the ignominy of Sid Kwan's father, his son's hands cut off. Instead, send him to Kwan submerging in the Taiwanese mountains, where he should not do more than quietly to behave. Which is precisely what Sid hardest falls.
First arrived in Taiwan, is also the film to rest and revels in lush colors in the forests of the province, which is perhaps a bit more abundantly in a few pictures to the port of salvation is declared, green and hospitable, a paradise for everyone.
Sid left with his expensive sunglasses and bad manners are still foreign objects in the idyllic, but when he was in the wilderness of a very balanced group of Zen drummers met, he will begin to impact his business vehicles packed ambition to later in meditative serenity and perfect rhythm to enlightenment drum.
For a while makes in "The Journey of the Chinese drummer", on this Thursday in the cinema comes the feeling of well-intentioned movie Esoterik; the title indicates grobpoetische something already in the direction.
But director Kenneth Bi with this film has something else in mind. He has great respect for the serious enlightened drummers and their concerns, but saves in the right moments with humor ( "His name is Shu. He likes talking with trees") and not with short outbursts of violence, especially when it comes again a bit too harmonious way. The result is an extraordinary, amazingly entertaining blend of meditative and self-strip gangster film.
YOUR OPINION IS GEFRAGTDiskutieren about this item
For all spiritual knowledge is never boring, and in fact have the drum scenes in the wilderness a hypnotic undertow, Sid the transformation from annoying Schickimicki-Söhnchen charming and receptive to enlightenment viewfinder really makes credible. At then end of the film with a bit more initially so ghoulish to Hong Kong. Even here, in the vortex of ruin, so the realization of love and forgiveness are possible.
Beautiful it is still in the country.
